Mr. G. K. Pillai may become the next Home Secretary
Following the series of mishappenings in the country and consequent changes in the Union Cabinet, it is being speculated that the present Home Secretary, Mr. Madhukar Gupta, IAS (UL, 1971) may have to go in order to make way for a new Home Secretary even before completion his tenure. According to sources, amongst the few names to succeed Mr. Gupta as new Home Secretary, Mr. Gopal Krishna Pillai, IAS (KL, 1972), Secretary, Department of Commerce in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is tipped as the most probable contender.
Ms. Smita Nagaraj may be appointed J. S., Defence
Ms. Smita Nagaraj, IAS (TN, 1984) may be appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Defence. The post has fallen vacant on appointment of Mr. Chaman Kumar, IAS 9GJ, 1978), the earlier incumbent to the post, as Additional Secretary & FA in the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture.
Mr. Upendra Tripathy to be J. S., Minority Affairs?
The name of Mr. Upendra Tripathy, IAS (KN, 1980) is almost final for appointment as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Minority Affairs. The post was held earlier by Mr. Pradeep Sen, IAS (RJ, 1982) and was vacated by him in the month of May, 2008.
Mr. V. K. Joshi gets additional charge of DG, CISF
Mr. V. K. Joshi, IPS (BH, 1971), Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been given the additional charge of the post of Director General of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
Mr. Manoj Kumar to be empanelled as J. S. in GOI?
According to sources, Mr. Manoj Kumar, IAS (HP, 1988) has been recommended by the CSB for empanelment for holding the post of Joint secretary or equivalent in the Government of India.
Mr. R. K. Singh gets further extension
Mr. Rajesh Kumar Singh, IAS (MT, 1985), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, whose extended tenure was till 19th November, 2008 has been given further extension upto 31st January, 2009.
Mr. A. Purkayastha may join GOI
It is tipped that Mr. Atanu Purkayastha, IAS (WB, 1983) may soon be appointed as Joint Secretary in some Ministry in the Central Government.

The post was held earlier by Mr. Arun Singhal, IAS (UP, 1987) who was appointed as Chief Vigilance Officer, Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.
