Mr. V. S. Sampath appointed Power Secretary

The position of next Secretary, Ministry of Power which had several names making rounds as probable has finally gone to Mr. V. S. Sampath, IAS (AP, 1973), Secretary in the Department of Chemicals & Petro Chemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers. Mr. Anil Razdan, IAS (HY, 1973), the present Secretary, Ministry of Power is superannuating on the last day of year 2008.

Mr. P. J. Thomas appointed Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs

Mr. P. J. Thomas, IAS (KL, 1973), Chief Secretary of Kerala has been appointed next Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs. The present Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs Ms. Rekha Bhargava, IAS (MP, 1973) is superannuating on 31st December, 2008.

Mr. Bijoy Chatterjee appointed Secretary, Chemicals & Petro Chemicals

Mr. Bijoy Chatterjee, IAS (WB, 1973) has been appointed as the next Secretary in the Department of Chemicals & Petro Chemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers. The present Secretary, Department of Chemicals & Petro Chemicals is being shifted to succeed Mr. Anil Razdan, IAS (HY, 1973) as next Power Secretary.

Mr. A. K. Seth appointed Secretary, (PG & Coordination)

Mr. Ajit Kumar Seth, IAS (UP, 1974) has been appointed as the next Secretary, (PG & Coordination) in the Cabinet Secretariat. Ms. Renuka Viswanathan, IAS (KN, 1971), Secretary (PG & Coordination) in the Cabinet Secretariat will superannuate on 31st December, 2008.

The panel for J. S., Corporate Affairs scrapped?

Mr. Jitesh Khosla, IAS (AM, 1979), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs will complete his central deputation tenure on 20th January, 2009. According to sources, the panel for appointment of an officer as Joint Secretary, Corporate Affairs in place of Mr. Khosla has been scrapped.

Transfer of IAS officers in UP

Two IAS officers have been given new assignment in Uttar Pradesh. Mr. Navtej Singh, IAS (UP, 1982), Commissioner, Kanpur has been appointed as Principal Secretary, Social Welfare. Mr. Dinesh Singh, IAS (UP, 1982), who previously was serving as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs at Centre and was on wait following his premature repatriation to his parent cadre of Uttar Pradesh in October, 2008 will succeed Mr. Navtej Singh as new Commissioner of Kanpur.

Mr. Pradeep Kumar appointed Ambassador to Chile

Mr. Pradeep Kumar, at present, serving as OSD at headquarters has been appointed as India’s next Ambassador to Chile.

Mr. M. Narayanan to be promoted

The proposal for promotion of Mr. M. Narayanan, DIG, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on purely ad-hoc basis, in relaxation of the eligibility criterion prescribed in the relevant Recruitment Rules, has been approved by the ACC.

Ms. S. Kutty appointed A. S., U. P. S. C.

Ms. Sanjeevanee Kutty, IAS (MH, 1983) has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Union Public Service Commission. The position is equivalent to the rank of Joint Secretary. The earlier incumbent to the post, Mr. Dillip Kumar Samantaray, IAS (MP, 1982) was appointed as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.

Ms. Smita Nagaraj appointed J. S., Defence

Ms. Smita Nagaraj, IAS (TN, 1984) has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Defence. The post has fallen vacant on appointment of Mr. Chaman Kumar, IAS (GJ, 1978), the earlier incumbent to the post, as Additional Secretary & FA in the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture.

Mr. Deepak Trivedi appointed Principal Commissioner, DDA

Mr. Deepak Trivedi, IAS (UP, 1985) has been appointed as Principal Commissioner in the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Ministry of Urban Development. The post was created in the month of June, 2008.

Mr. P. H. Kurian appointed Controller General, PDTM

Mr. P. H. Kurian, IAS (KL, 1986) has been appointed Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM). The position is equivalent to the rank of Joint secretary and based at Mumbai under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce.
