Mr. Apurva Chandra to become J. S. (Exploration), Petroleum & Natural Gas soon
The name of Mr. Apurva Chandra, IAS (MH, 1988), Resident Commissioner, Maharashtra Sadan, New Delhi has been cleared by the PMO for appointment as Joint Secretary (Exploration) in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and formal order is expected soon, sources informed. The post is lying vacant since the completion of tenure of Mr. A. K. Jain, IAS (MP, 1986), the earlier incumbent, on 29th June, 2008
Mr. V. S. Meragani may join GOI
It is tipped that Mr. Venkata Satyanarayana Meragani, IAS (AP, 1993) is in consideration for appointment as Director in some Department in the Government of India. The name of Mr. Meragani may be finalised for this assignment and he soon may join Government of India on deputation.

Mr. P. H. Kurian to join Ministry of Commerce?
According to sources, the name of Mr. P. H. Kurian, IAS (KL, 1986) is almost final for appointment as Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks. The position is equivalent to the rank of Joint secretary and based at Mumbai under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce.
Ms. S. Kutty to be A. S., U. P. S. C. soon?
It is tipped that Ms. Sanjeevanee Kutty, IAS (MH, 1983) may soon be appointed as Additional Secretary in the Union Public Service Commission. The position is equivalent to the rank of Joint Secretary. The earlier incumbent to the post, Mr. Dillip Kumar Samantaray, IAS (MP, 1982) was appointed as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.
Ms. Smita Nagaraj may be appointed J. S., Defence
Ms. Smita Nagaraj, IAS (TN, 1984) may be appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Defence soon. The post has fallen vacant on appointment of Mr. Chaman Kumar, IAS (GJ, 1978), the earlier incumbent to the post, as Additional Secretary & FA in the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture.

Mr. Kuldeep Kumar Saharawat, Indian Telecom Service (1999) may be appointed as Director in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
Mr. S. S. Gupta may succeed Mr. K. S. Mallick
The name of Mr. Shiv Shankar Gupta, IAS (AM, 1982), Principal Resident Commissioner of Meghalaya House is believed to be in consideration for appointment as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. Mr. K. S. Mallick, CSS, Joint Secretary, Commission for Economically Backward Classes in the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment will superannuate on 31st December, 2008 and Mr. Gupta may be appointed as successor to Mr. Mallick.
