Who will be the next Secretary, Power?
Mr. Anil Razdan, IAS (HY, 1973), Secretary, Ministry of Power is superannuating on the last day of year 2008. Who will be appointed as successor to Mr. Razdan on this post? The name of four IAS officers Mr. Rahul Khullar, IAS (UT, 1975), Special Secretary in the Department of Commerce, Mr. Ashok Kumar Nigam, IAS (UT, 1974), Vice Chairman of Delhi Development Authority, Mr. Ajay Shanker, IAS (UP, 1973), Secretary in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Mr. U. N. Panjiyar, IAS (BH, 1973), Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources is doing rounds as probable candidates for appointment as next Secretary, Power. Mr. Shanker and Mr. Panjiyar have served as Additional Secretary and Special Secretary in the Ministry of Power in the past.
Mr. Sudhir Bhargava may be appointed J. S., Fertilizers
Mr. Sudhir Bhargava, IAS (RJ, 1979) is tipped to be in consideration for his next assignment in the Central Government on deputation as Joint Secretary in the Department of Fertilizers, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers. The earlier incumbent to the post, Mr. V. Chhiber, IAS (MT, 1978) was elevated and appointed Additional Secretary and FA in the Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport & Highways.
Mr. D. L. Rawal may become next CMD, Dena Bank
Mr. D. L. Rawal, Executive Director of Canara Bank may be appointed as the next Chairman and Managing Director of Dena Bank.
Mr. A. Purkayastha may be appointed J. S., Agriculture & Cooperation
Mr. Atanu Purkayastha, IAS (WB, 1983) may be appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Cooperation in the Ministry of Agriculture. Mr. Gokul Chandra Pati, IAS (OR, 1978), the earlier incumbent to the post, was elevated as Additional Secretary there.
CSS officers to be empanelled as J. S.
The name of two CSS officers has been recommended by the CSB for empanelment to hold the post of Joint Secretary or equivalent, sources informed. The two officers whose name is said to have been recommended for empanelment are; Badre Alam Khan and G. N. Sreekumaran.
Mr. Rakesh Saini may be appointed ED, Tea Board
The post of Executive Director, Tea Board is lying vacant following the completion of tenure of Mr. Chandrajit Saikia, IRPS (1989), the earlier incumbent. According to sources, the name of Mr. Rakesh Saini, IDSE (1987) has been finalised for appointment as new ED, Tea Board.
Appointment of Regional Director, SSC
The post of Regional Director, Staff Selection Board at Guwahati is lying vacant. Who will be appointed on this post?
Mr. Shiv Kumar may be appointed Director, NDMA
It is tipped that Mr. Shiv Kumar, IDSE (1986) may be appointed as Director in the National Disaster Management Authority, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Mr. S. Shyam to join Rural Development?
Mr. Sudhir Shyam, Indian Economic Service (1999) is tipped to be in consideration for appointment as Director in the Department of Rural Development. The post held earlier by Ms. Ranjana Gupta, IFS (AM, 1986), is lying vacant following her being shifted to the Ministry of Environment & Forests in the month of July, 2008.
Additional charge given to CCITs
Three Chief Commissioners of Income Tax has been given additional charges. Mr. Karan Singh, CCIT-IV, Chennai has been given the additional charge of CCIT-I, Mr. P. P. Srivastava, CCIT-II, Chennai has been given the additional charge of CCIT-V, Chennai and Mr. K. K. Tripathi, CCIT, Trichy the additional charge of CCIT, Madurai.
