Appointment of J. S. (Police), Ministry of Home Affairs

According to sources, the name of Mr. Ashok Lavasa, IAS (HY, 1980) is doing rounds for appointment as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Mr. Lavasa may be appointed as Joint Secretary (Police) in the Ministry of Home Affairs in place of Mr. Mr. Virendra Narayan Gaur, IAS (NL, 1978). Mr., Gaur who was empanelled in the level of Additional Secretary in the GOI, has been appointed as the CEO, Food & Safety Standard Authority in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. Will Mr. Lavasa be given the responsibility of Joint Secretary (Police) or will get some other assignment in the Ministry of Home? Why not the Government appoint an IPS officer on this post, so that the incumbent brings with him/ her better understanding of the subject and ensure better handing of the issues related with it? For records, the Ministry of Home Affairs has only two IPS officers; Mr. Raman Srivastava, IPS (KL, 1973), Special Secretary (Internal Security) and Dr. Kashmir Singh, IPS (UP, 1978), Joint Secretary, Naxalite Ma agement Division serving at senior position.

Mr. Alok Sinha-II to become J. S., Civil Aviation?

Will Mr. Alok Sinha-II, IAS (UP, 1987) be appointed Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation in place of Mr. K. N. Srivastava, IAS (KN, 1978), who has been appointed as Director General of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Ministry of Culture? It is tipped that the name of Mr. Sinha has been approved by the Ministry. On the earlier occasions the panel has been scrapped.

Is Ms. Renuka Kumar joining GOI?

Is Ms. Renuka Kumar, IAS (UP, 1987) joining her next assignment in the Government of India on deputation? According to sources, her name has been approved by the Minister of Corporate Affairs for appointment as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in place of Mr. Jitesh Khosla, IAS (AM, 1979). Mr. Khosla, whose tenure ended on 20th January, 2009 is serving on extended tenure of three months.

Empanelment of IAS officers of 1979 batch

The empanelment of IAS officers on 1979 batch in the level of Additional Secretary or equivalent is not going to take place soon. According to sources, this time only thirty seven officers are going to be empanelled as Additional Secretary in GOI.

Empanelment of IDAS officers of 1986 batch

According to sources, seven officers of Indian Defence Accounts Service of 1986 batch; Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Mr. Avinash Dikshit, Ms. Anuradha Prasad, Mr. Rakesh Sehgal, Ms. Rasika Chaube, Mr. R. N. Das and Mr. S. P. N. Singh were reviewed by the CSB for empanelment in the level of Joint Secretary in the Government of India and amongst them the names of Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Mr. Avinash Dikshit, Ms. Anuradha Prasad, Mr. Rakesh Sehgal and Ms. Rasika Chaube has been recommended for empanelment.

Empanelment of IA&AS officers in the level of J. S.

According to sources, nine officers of Indian Audit and Accounts Service; Mr. T. K. Sanyal (1975), Mr. S. B. Pillay (1977), Mr. S. K. Mishra (1977), Mr. B. R. Khairnar (1977), Mr. Shankar Narayan (1978), Ms. Usha Sankar (1979), Mr. R. P. Singh (1979), Mr. A. K. Singh (1979) and Mr. B. Mazumdar were reviewed by the CSB for empanelment in the level of Joint Secretary in the Government of India and amongst them the names of Mr. T. K. Sanyal (1975) and Mr. R. P. Singh has been recommended for empanelment.

Appointment of CMD, National ST Finance & Dev. Corp.

The post of Chairman and Managing Director, National ST Finance and Development Corporation held earlier by Ms. S. Bhawani, Indian Economic Service (1975) is lying vacant following her premature reversion to her parent department in December, 2008. Who will be appointed on this post? On earlier occasions, the panel has been scrapped.

Mr. Onkar Nil may join Social Justice and Empowerment

The post of Secretary, National Commission for Safai Karmacharis, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment held earlier by Mr. Devinder Pal Singh, IAS (UP, 1980) has fallen vacant on his appointment as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Earth Sciences in the month of December, 2008. According to sources, the name of Mr. Onkar Nath Nil, IA&AS (1984) is being considered for appointment on this post.

Mr. C. Viswanath may become J. S., Food & Public Distribution

A new post of Joint Secretary was created in the Department of Food and Public Distribution in December, 2008. According to sources, Mr. Chirravuri Viswanath, IAS (AP, 1981), Resident Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh Bhawan at New Delhi is likely to be appointed on this post.

Mr. Savitur Prasad, IDAS (1983), Joint Secretary in the National Commission for Enterprises in the Unorganized Sector (NCEUS) under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has been given extension till 31st March, 2009 or further orders.
