Ms. K. S. Rao to be next Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs?

The name Ms. Kanuru Sujatha Rao, IAS (AP, 1974), Special Secretary & DG, National Aids Control Organisation (NACO) in the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is doing rounds for appointment as next Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs. The present Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs Ms. Rekha Bhargava, IAS (MP, 1973) is superannuating on 31st December, 2008.

Mr. K. N. Srivastava to be elevated as A. S. soon

Mr. K. N. Srivastava, IAS (KN, 1978), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation may soon be given in-situ promotion as Additional Secretary there. According to sources, the file has been cleared by the PMO and formal order of his elevation is expected very soon.

Mr. V. N. Gaur to be elevated as A. S. soon

Mr. Virendra Narayan Gaur, IAS (NL, 1978), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs may soon be given in-situ promotion as Additional Secretary there. According to sources, the file has been cleared by the PMO and formal order of his elevation is expected very soon.

Mr. Puneet Kansal may be appointed Director (Finance), NACO

Mr. Puneet Kansal, IAS (SK, 1996) is in consideration for appointment as Director (Finance) in the National Aids Control Organisation (NACO), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, sources informed. The post was held earlier by Mr. Suresh Kumar Sepuri, IAS (WB, 1988), who was elevated and appointed on the newly created post of Advisor, National Disaster Management Authority, Ministry of Home Affairs in the rank of Joint Secretary.

Mr. V. Umashankar may join GOI

It is tipped that Mr. V. Umashankar, IAS (HY, 1993) is in consideration for appointment as Director in some Department in the Government of India. The name of Mr. Umashankar may be finalised for this assignment and he soon may join Government of India on deputation.

The earlier incumbent to the post, Mr. V. Chhiber, IAS (MT, 1978) was elevated and appointed Additional Secretary and FA in the Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport & Highways.

Mr. R. K. Singh may go to Canada

Following the joining of Dr. Syed Naseem Ahmad Zaidi, IAS (UP, 1976) as Director-General, Civil Aviation in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the post of India’s Representative to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Montreal, Canada held earlier by him has fallen vacant. There are two IAS officers of Kerala cadre alongwith Mr. Rajesh Kumar Singh, IAS (MT, 1985), Joint Secretary, Civil Aviation, who are tipped to be in the race for the post. Dr. Zaidi, prior to joining ICAO in November, 2005, was Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation and if the tradition persists and prior experience of working in the Civil Aviation Ministry is considered for appointment of next India’s Representative to ICAO, Mr. Singh, whose tenure has been extended twice upto 31st January, 2009 as Joint Secretary, Civil Aviation is the natural contender for the post.

Mr. P. N. Prasad may be appointed Director, Science & Technology

Mr. Prithwi Nath Prasad, IFS (MT, 1985) may be appointed as Director in the Department of Science & Technology.

Empanelment of IAS officers of 1989 batch

The empanelment of IAS officers of 1989 batch for holding the post of Joint Secretary or equivalent in the Central Government is probably going to take place today on 10th of November, 2008. And it is believed that around fifty two officers from this batch will be empanelled.

Panel for J. S. (E), Petroleum & Natural Gas?


There is a strong probability of the panel of officers for the appointment of Joint Secretary (Exploration) in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas to be scrapped or deferred, sources informed. It has happened on two or three occasions as well. Only in the time to come the actual fate of it will be known. The post was held earlier by Mr. A. K. Jain, IAS (MP, 1986) and lying vacant since the completion of his tenure on 29th June, 2008.

The panel for J. S., Economic Affairs scrapped?

The panel of officers for the appointment of Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance is tipped to have been scrapped. The post has fallen vacant following the appointment of Mr. Arvind Mayaram, IAS (RJ, 1978) as Additional Secretary & FA in the Ministry of Rural Development.

Who will become next Additional D.G., Tourism?

Who will become next Additional D. G., Tourism in the office of D. G. Tourism, Ministry of Tourism? It is believed that for the appointment of Principal Secretary in the Delhi Development Authority, the post which was created in the month of June, 2008, a panel of officers has been prepared and it is likely to be finalised soon. The post is equivalent to the rank of Joint Secretary.

Appointment of J. S., Commerce

A new post of Joint Secretary was created in the Department of Commerce in the month of June, 2008. For appointment on this newly created post few names did made rounds. But now it is likely to be finalised soon as the appointment of a suitable officer on this post has been discussed in priority by the highest authorities, sources said.
