Ms. Deepak Sandhu appointed Media Advisor to PM
Ms. Deepak Sandhu, IIS (1971), Principal Information Officer to the Union Government has been appointed as Media Advisor to the Prime Minister. The post was vacant for almost four months after the earlier media advisor to the PM, Dr. Sanjay Baru moved to Singapore to take his academic assignment there. Ms. Sandhu, who was the third woman officer to become the PIO, had served on several key posts like DG, News, AIR and DD and Director, Film Festival in the past.

Mr. G. K. Pillai may become the next Home Secretary
Following the series of mishappenings in the country and consequent changes in the Union Cabinet, it is being speculated that the present Home Secretary, Mr. Madhukar Gupta, IAS (UL, 1971) may have to go in order to make way for a new Home Secretary even before completion his tenure. According to sources, amongst the few names to succeed Mr. Gupta as new Home Secretary, Mr. Gopal Krishna Pillai, IAS (KL, 1972), Secretary, Department of Commerce in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is tipped as the most probable contender.
