Mr. R. V. Raju may be appointed NIA chief

It is tipped that Mr. R. V. Raju, IPS (JK, 1975) has emerged as strong contender to become the Chief of National Investigation Agency (NIA) and in the wake of certain developments he may finally get this coveted assignment.

Mr. Jitesh Khosla may get extension

Mr. Jitesh Khosla, IAS (AM, 1979), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, whose central deputation tenure will come to end on 20th January, 2009 may be given extension in tenure, sources informed.

Ms. Anshu Vaish appointed Secretary, School Education & Literacy

Ms. Anshu Vaish, IAS (MP, 1975), Director General of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Ministry of Culture has been appointed as next Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy in the Ministry of Human Resources Development. The present Secretary, Mr. Arun Kumar Rath, IAS (JH, 1973) is superannuating on 31st January, 2009.

Mr. K. N. Srivastava to succeed Ms. Anshu Vaish

Mr. K. N. Srivastava, IAS (KN, 1978), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation will succeed Ms. Anshu Vaish, IAS (MP, 1975) as the next Director General of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Ministry of Culture. Mr. Srivastava’s position as DG, ASI will be equivalent to the rank of Additional Secretary in the GOI.

Ms. N. Kumar may be appointed Director in the Department of Defence

Ms. Nirupama Kumar, Indian Railway Accounts Service (1991) may succeed Mr. S. C. Barmma, Indian Postal Service (1987) as Director in the Department of Defence. Mr. Bramma is going to join training course this month.

Mr. V. N. Gaur may succeed Ms. V. Upadhyaya

It is tipped that Mr. Virendra Narayan Gaur, IAS (NL, 1978), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, who is empanelled in the level of Additional Secretary in the GOI is the most likely candidate to be appointed as the next Advisor, Inter-state Council Secretariat in the Ministry of Home Affairs. The present incumbent to the post, Ms. Veena Upadhyaya, IAS (UP, 1976) is there till 21st January, 2009.

Mr. Keshav Chandra may become Director, Rural Development

Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS (UT, 1995) is tipped to be in consideration for appointment as Director in the Department of Rural Development, Ministry of Rural Development. The post of Director in the Department of Rural Development, held earlier by Mr. S. K. G. Rahate, IAS (JH, 1990) has fallen vacant following the appointment of Mr. Rahate as Private Secretary to the Minister of State for Food Processing Industries (Independent Charge), Government of India.

Who will be appointed J. S., Civil Aviation?

Mr. K. N. Srivastava, IAS (KN, 1978), Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation has been appointed as next Director General of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Ministry of Culture. To succeed Mr. Srivastava as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the name of two-three high profile officers is doing rounds.

Appointment of Deputy Governor, RBI

The appointment of new Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India in place of Mr. V. Leeladhar, who retired in the early of December, 2008 may be finalised on 15th January, 2009. According to sources, Mr. T. S. Narayanasami, Chairman and Managing Director of Bank of India, Dr. K. C. Chakrabarty, Chairman and Managing Director of Punjab National Bank and Mr. Mr. Yogesh Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of IDBI Bank are the three strong contenders for the post.

Reshuffle in the assignments of Joint Secretaries in Ministry of Petroleum likely

It is tipped that the assignments of Joint Secretaries in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural gas may be interchanged. According to sources, Mr. D N Narasimha Raju, IAS (KN, 1984), Joint Secretary – Marketing in the Ministry may be given the responsibility of Joint secretary – Exploration, Mr. Laxmi Narayan Gupta, IAS (OR, 1986), Joint Secretary – Refinery may get the new role of Joint Secretary – Marketing and newly appointed Joint Secretary in the Ministry Mr. Apurva Chandra, IAS (MH, 1988) may get the assignment of Joint Secretary – Refinery.

Mr. K. J. S. Sodhi to be High Commissioner to St. Lucia as well

Mr. K. J. S. Sodhi, India’s Ambassador to Suriname has been concurrently accredited as the next Indian High Commissioner to St. Lucia with residence in Paramaribo, Suriname.
